Immersive excitement of Comiket starts from far away

Thousands of people have come to Comiket. The nearest train station is completely flooded with people - almost impossible to get through.
In the convenience store next to the station sells a tea called Ita-cha (痛茶）. Ita-cha plastic bottle has a label illustrated by Aoi Nishimata and has a pretty young girl on it. Aoi Nishimata is a popular illustrator, specialized in drawing beautiful girls for various computer games and Moe-kei foods and beverages. I bought a bottle of Ita-cha myself!
The station is covered with many posters, so even before we get into the event venue, we are immersed into this exciting festive mood of Comiket.

Thousands of manga creators + fans = crazy Comiket

We have just arrived to the venue, but alas, the entry to the hall is limited! Comiket is a grand event, indeed. In the midst of this fun bedlam, we asked where we could find the most popular Circle (サークル）. Circle is an individual or group of independent, self-published artists of manga.
We were told that the most popular circles usually have very long queues, so they are placed at the edges of the hall so that the queue can spill out of the hall if necessary. Amazing! Talented artists such as this one sell their self-made mangas. Some sell out within an hour, they say!

Cosplay fever

Another attraction of Comiket is cosplay.
Just outside of the main hall, there are two halls for cosplay. A lot of cosplayers gather here, morphed into their favourite anime or manga characters and posing for photos. There is even a circle which was assembled through an Internet forum. They prepared their costumes and got together for the first time just for Comiket, from all over Japan. Comiket is not only for Japan, but for the whole world. Cosplayers from abroad also joined the event!
